Kingslip winning design

I mean like WOAH by Kingslip

Greetings design fans.

One of the coolest theme competitions to hit Springleap.com in recent months has to be our super styling, old school Retro theme competition.
After a fierce battle of 8-bit insanity Kingslip emerged victorious and took the win!

Kingslip has been submitting designs to our competitions for as long as I can remember. Indeed it’s difficult to keep track of all the wicked cool designs that he has sent us over the compo eons.
His winning design I mean like WOAH is however his very first winning design on Springleap.com
So this is indeed a very special moment for a guy that has added so much design power to our site.

I mean like WOAH is a design that reminds me of the days when our grandparents would wear tinfoil hats on their heads in order to survive the telepathic mind controlling powers of little green men from Mars.

The Buck Rogers helmet, complete with ultra “sci-fi” spaceship on top, really made me laugh.
This design is so awesomely retro its crazy.

World Cup traffic

World Cup traffic

Sawubona everyone.

The soccer fever seems to have spread through the populace at lightning speeds…or at least the speed of sound thanks to our local vuvuzelas.
It seems that even the workplace has been affected by the soccer spirit. Well, in the positive sense I mean!
There is one little element that we need to be careful about. That is of course the bane of World Cup traffic.

As we all know the BIG GAME…that is, South Africa vs. The country that is going to be crushed by our power (Mexico), will kickoff at 4:00pm.
That means of course that if you want to catch the big game that you will have to get off work early.
Remember if you are working in certain parts of Cape Town traffic will be absolutely INSANE.
Take for instance my girlfriend who is going to have to get from Woodstock to Sea Point during one of the games. Dude, going through town for her will be nearly impossible. So she will have to take the back route to get home. Shoooo, I hope everyone can get home in time for the match!

The Uruguay vs. France game will commence at 8:30pm. So hopefully everyone will be where they need to be by that time. There will be a super colossal football fever in Cape Town, until very late. Remember when the games end, the parties begin! Take that into account or you may end up in a maelstrom of traffic madness.

If you are concerned about the World Cup traffic, best chat to your bosses and see if you can wangle a deal. Maybe try to come in early, so that you can leave at a better time!
Heck if you have cool bosses maybe they will even give you the day off ;)

Greenpeace competition

Greenpeace competition

Hi there all you eco-warriors!

I’d like to take this opportunity to mention a Greenpeace competition that I feel really deserves all of our attentions. The basic idea is to rebrand the BP logo. Yes the company responsible for the atrocious oil spill we are seeing all over the media.
Here is a quick rundown about the spill and the Greenpeace competition itself.

The world has been hit with so many human atrocities in regards to pollution that it’s honestly hard to keep up these days. In recent weeks the story of stories has been about the “epic fail” of the immense oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico by a BP rig.
The Deepwater Horizon spill has been seen as the worst man-influenced ecological disaster ever, or at least the biggest off-shore spill in US history.
Now that I serious stuff boys and girls!

The worst thing about the Deepwater Horizon spill is that very little has been done by the US government to contain the spill. Although actions have recently been taken by getting robots to cut holes in the pipe in order to install a cap, this was all done way, way, waaaaay too late to make a difference. The amount of oil that has spewed forth has made a terrible mess for the environment and has killed hundreds of birds and turtles. This only the beginning of what could be a ripple effect that will last throughout our lifetime and even our children’s childrens life times.
