Star Trek fun

Star Trek fun

Greetings and salutations Earthling!

Yes indeed sci-fi has undergone a massive makeover in the past few years and all for the better. There was a stage where I was truly worried about the fate of the science fiction genre. I’m an avid fan of all things “space” and will always be a sucker for a good sci-fi. Not so long ago the Star Trek franchise rebooted their movies with a freaking cool Star Trek block buster that actually surpassed my expectations by light years. While I do enjoy Star Trek I have always been more of a Star Wars fan. However after such a brilliant movie I may have to reconsider my stance…especially if you compare the latest Star Wars movies that came out….gross!
Here is a bit of Star Trek fun that I thought all you Trekkies out there would truly appreciate.

One of the most popular role playing “dress up” themes over the past 20 years has been the phenomenon of Star Trek. Indeed there are frequent parties overseas where likeminded Star Trek fans can come together, speak Klingon and be merry!

One site that I trust for all my geekology is undoubtedly Think Geek which has a horde of subculture merchandise.
The first item on my list is the ladies Original Series Star Trek t-shirt dress. I know there are plenty of places to buy the male outfit, but this dress really is awesome. If you rock up at a party in this you will be sure to fit right in. Plus you can use this all year round at various costume parties, Halloween and of course…ummm, the “privacy of your own spaceship”.

As many of the older Springleap.com fans will remember in the beginning we had no set theme competitions and you could simply blast anything and everything across to us without prejudice. However our tact changed and we transformed our competition into a theme based creature that would take different forms as the Springleap.com crew desired. This in my opinion was a step in the right direction because I felt that it focussed the design communities design power on a single subject. This angle worked to a certain degree but it made it a little bit more difficult for designers to come up with ideas and execute them in time for the closing date…among other issues.
