I have a deep respect for all of his horror writing and of course all things Cthulhu.
While I was a big horror fan growing up as a small boy, it wasn’t until I stumbled across the Call of Cthulhu RPG when I was in high school that I truly realized the type of horror writing that men were capable of.
H.P. Lovecraft is a legend because of the detail, intelligence and power he was able to imbue his stories with.
However, there has been a new development in the world of Lovecraft…a rather “eyebrow raising” children’s take on the world of one of the most terrifying horror franchises of all time.
Enter the children book Howard and the Frozen Kingdom.
So how in the living hell could a child character ever survive the realities of the Mythos?
Surely it would warp the poor little kiddies mind into a quivering pile of goop…well before his brain was consumed by hungry tendrils, etc, etc?
While the gaming market continues to grow, accessing a broader age market, as well as social spread, there are a few select individuals who are taking consoles to the next level.
Its time to start embracing the idea of video game consoles in a school environment.
Gaming consoles in a school environment may sound crazy to some. However the overall usefulness of a small console in the role of education is becoming a stronger and strongeroption for teachers.
One console in particular is the handheld gaming gadget called the Nintendo DS. The DS has actually been around for quite some time, in fact I think it was released back in 2004, which in gaming years is actually quite some time ago.
However, Nintendo’s new focus on the DS as a platform for education is actually a rather smart move. If you consider the average life span of any gaming console is about 5 years before a better version comes out, what do you do with the thousands of unsold DS systems? Well, find an alternate platform other than gaming of course. The DS is already being used in many different sectors in Japanese life. You can find them used as tour navigators as well as language assists for museums and aquariums. Can you imagine the effectiveness of these gadgets in these new aspects? It’s a whole new world and indeed a gaming console evolution!
