Greetings Springleapers.
Yes thats right, a new year is here and it’s time to get your groove on with the next Springleap.com theme competition.
First things first! Voting has begun on our YeLOLow theme competition.
This is set to be a serious design battle. We couldn’t start off the new years with a bigger BANG!
Let’s take a look at the latest and greatest from the new compo.
Ok let’s hope my curse settings are off and that my selection doesn’t get pwned once again.
Come on Duncan, it’s a new year…use your powers to discern the winners *vein in head throbs*.
My 3 choices are:
El Lobo by Kakolak.
Who’s your daddy? by Dotnot.
Ice cream? by Qimstudio.
First up let me introduce you to a rather strange, but funky fellow created by Kakolak. This dude is called El Lobo and he is the undisputed King of Fresh Style!
The thing I like most about this design is that Kakolak has used such an intricate design style, although, we have already come to expect this level of detail from Kakolak. This is most certainly up there with the best of his work.
This is character power at its best. El Lobo is Intricate, but simplistic in the sense that it’s a 2 colour job. It looks marvellous Watson!
This may just be my favourite design of the competition. I’m a sucker for unique characters…especially when they are pulled off in such an epic fashion. HIGH FIVE Sir. Kakolak
Next up we have Who’s your daddy, by the relatively unknown Dotnot.
This design goes out to all the Star Wars geeks and subculture hounds….like myself.
Ok, so this design is not mega original….I’m sure that every design variation possible has already been applied to this sci-fi classic. I just have to say that I feel that Who’s your daddy?, has just the right amount of design elements, which bring it to life. One colour black on yellow has always been a winning combination. Darth Vader is a symbol of “blackness”, which I feel really makes the content of the design that much more funny.
I want one of these bad boys sooooo bad. The best thing about Star Wars is that it sells like hot cakes. With the growing number of subculture fans around the globe, this is sure to attract some attention.
You must be Sith in the head if you don’t vote highly for this killer design.
Lastly, I decided to choose a design which is perhaps seen as a bit of a “dark horse” in the design race.
Qimstudio has decided to go for a more simplistic design style. However, in its simplicity there is tons of humour and what I feel is “sell factor”.
Ice cream? has all the exuberance of what the YeLOLow theme competition is all about. Just because a design is not as mega intricate as some, or as colourful…doesn’t make it any less spectacular.
Qimstudio’s melting face chowing a very yummy Ice Cream has really stolen my heart with its simple but generous imagination. While I fear that this design may be voted poorly on by the public, I still maintain that this is a winning design which deserves your attention.
As always I hope my winning design sensor is working at full capacity…however after the Christmas/New Years bombardment, it’s a miracle I can still tie my shoe laces.
What are your predictions for the YeLOLow theme competition? I’m dying to get a consensus from all of you out there?
Duncs.
