Yep it’s true. I honestly cannot be bothered shelling out mega cash for something that I will probably read once and then throw underneath the coffee table, to gather dust. Likewise I hate the idea of such wastage of paper…I’d rather read something online thanks. There are however a few magazines that I will keep. I’m a sucker for sci-fi magazines like Analog, which I keep for reference as well as cooking magazines that are jammed with recipes. One magazine that pips all of these however is ImageFX, which is the ultimate graphic designer’s magazine.
When I was living over in London the magazine had just come out (January 2006). When I picked it up and started paging, I instantly knew that this was a design magazine for others of the genre to aspire to be. ImageFX is brimming with the hottest science fiction, fantasy and manga design talent from all over the world.
The designers that are featured in this magazine actually make me sick they are THAT good. It just pains me and makes me sad when I see the design talent out there.
Last night we travelled across to Bay Side mall in order to watch the new Inglorious Basterds movie. Alas, there was something wrong with our projector so we had to wait like 3 hours for it to be fixed. After sitting in Spur for more than an hour we decide we would rather die than stick around any longer. So, we jumped in the car and left. En route back to Sea Point we decided to check out the Eastern Food Bazaar on Darling Street. It was just as well we didn’t go to the flick because we would have missed out on this wicked tantalizing bazaar. Perhaps it was fated
The first thing you have to realize about the Eastern Food Bazaar if that it is stretched into what almost feels like an alley bazaar, like you get overseas. The vibe is awesome and the people were friendly…which helps. I have to say that it draws a seriously diverse group of customers as well. The last time I felt a vibe like this was when I used to grab lunch in the Camden Town market in London.
