Cape Town fashion is a vast and beautiful thing. We have some of the best fashion designers in Africa living right here in the Mother City. We have select boutique fashion stores that sell the most amazing local designs as well as the most modern high fashion from around the globe. Cape Town is undoubtedly the heart and soul of South African fashion. However it’s not the extravagant fashion that most tourists go home with…it’s the curio “Afrikana” clothing that sells above all else.

As far as foreign tourists go, the idea of coming into South Africa and leaving with the best in high fashion is probably the last thing on their agenda. I mean, it’s probably slightly insane coming over here and thinking, “hey I better check out Cape Town’s hottest fashion”. I’ve spoken to many many tourists about their thoughts on what clothing they want to buy when they are over here always goes back to simple South African/Cape Town inspired t-shirts.
Yep, thats right. Foreigners want elephants and lions more than Rundle and Black Coffee.

December Vortex 2009


It’s almost time for a bit of mellow dood doof in a pristine natural wonderland.
That’s right guys and girls the December Vortex 2009 is just around the corner and it sounds like this time the organizers are trying to get back to the roots of what it is all about.
But while everything sounds like it will be groovy, there are still a few latent fears after what happened in Easter.

The Vortex trance parties are an institution on the South African music festival agenda. It’s been many years since the parties took off and gained massive status, especially amongst dance fanatics. However some people have been saying that the Vortex parties have lost their original “soul” and that it has become just another commercial whirlpool.
