Our latest winner hails all the way from USA and has really pulled out all the stops to deliver a top notch visual masterpiece.
Congratulations go out to James (aka: Suburbanhijinx) for his apocalyptic precursor entitled ‘Please stand by for total planetary destruction’.
As always James was up against a multitude of insanely good design power, however he managed to evade the might of the other top contenders to walk away with a truly convincing win.
This design, as I’m sure you will all agree, has something special about it that just can’t be denied.
The title of this design speaks volumes. Please stand by for total planetary destruction exudes a slightly humorous take on the apocalypse and how the media may have played it out in the 50’s and 60’s.
Suburbanhijinx even says that he came across the idea when he was playing Fallout 3. If any of you have played this kickass video game you will know exactly how to interpret this wicked cool design.
Another element that James attributes the influence of this design to is his interest in reality TV. Obviously it’s not just the newscaster with the TV screen head, but the overall feeling of watching the world come to an end with “blow by blow” commentary.
I can just picture this type of thing happening in the real world…the media would be all over it, no doubts there. After all it is the greatest and most conclusive story of the human race.
Three cheers for Suburbanhijinx and his brilliant new design. I’m sure we will see plenty more of James’ designs challenging the top tier designs in the future.
