Hi Guys and Gals,
Ever wanted to look like shark attack victim but never had the courage to actually get into the water and let the most feared creature of the depths nibble on your left leg? Well now you can, without ever going through the whole spiel of being tossed and torn about like a rag doll. A little website by the name of by diddo has come out with a small range of eye catching wetsuits with the most intricate and original designs, created to capture and mimic the wonders of the living ocean.
Sick of the monotones of the ocean and a lack of creativity by wetsuit manufactures, the artist in question decided to challenge Mother Nature’s art direction and create a unique visual experience. The first edition of these eye catching wetsuits have come out in four crazy designs, a rusted iron diving suit paying homage to the late Jules Gabriel Verne who gave us the likes of Twenty thousand Legues Under the Sea and A Journey to the centre of the Earth. The anatomic musculature suit, my personal favourite, pays homage to man’s inner strength according to diddo himself. I think what makes this eye catching design for me such a beautiful piece is not that it encapsulates the ‘inner strength’ of man but that under our skin we are all the same organic beings captured for a brief moment of time in an engineering work of art. The last of this eye candy range is a whale shark patterned suit that according to their site, capture’s the brilliance of our natural world. Here are some designs in the pipeline at the moment, which means I’ll defiantly be keeping close tabs on his site.
With custom inks and unique printing techniques, which the artist never elaborates on unfortunately, ‘diddo’ was able to map textures onto the suits to create eye catching designs that evoke the mysteries of the seas. Diddo, often called ‘a next generation creative’ who has a multitude of skills in visualization, photography and concept creation to name but a few doesn’t believe in traditional approaches and therefore tries to blur the boundaries in fashion, design and photography. Its’ all about exploring, being open and taking advantage of new opportunities.
Till next time
Alex
