Hello all
The speculative contemplations surrounding the fashion industry right before the 2010 world cup are only of freedom of expression and success. Where a football fan wants and needs an official jersey to show his or hers undying love of the game and their team, is an opportunity lying to be snapped up by the savvy marketing guru. This influx of capital and exposure is a lot larger than just the fashion industry, it spills over into accessories and memorabilia like mugs and scarf’s etc and will be a welcomed ‘gift’ in these dire economic times.
Puma has already made its move by uniting with fashion expert Neil Barret to market an athletic collection that ranges from hoodies to cargo pants. Barret already a giant in the fashion industry, has already done work with the likes of Prada and Gucci, claims the focus of this range with Puma was ‘functional fibres’ and was inspired by protective Roman gladiator armour.
If the local fashion industry play their cards right this 2010 world cup could and should be a huge success with regards to local growth in manufacture and design. With as many as three million tourists expected, according to southafrica.info, these are very exciting times for the up and coming ‘forces’ in the fashion and design industry. I’m sure the springleap.com team have already convened and discussed their strategies for global domination during the 2010 world cup. Or something along those lines.
Who knows what this event will bring, all I know is the contemplations are tantalising to say the least.
All the best
