I was wondering what to blog about when I stumbled across this, a skateboardersdream come true at Galeria Noua art gallery. I never thought I would see the day when ‘deck artists’ would actually be recognized by a peer group. It’s refreshing to see the art world accept and encourage a new medium like skateboarding. I think this is one of those prime examples where we can actually see where design is changing and not only in the medium itself but the design culture as a whole.
Granted most of a skateboards design is worn away with use but then again it’s not unnatural to find a few who actually buy decks just to put on their wall, a connoisseur so to speak in the skate art world. A leading deck designer at the moment is Blind’s Corey Sheppard, his beautiful pieces are done on all types and shapes of decks as well as wheels and trucks. Corey‘s been with blind for what seems like forever and probably will be there forever as well. Corey seems to be the heart and soul of the blind image with his designs being the only ones used on signature boards.
Blind are only one of the manufactures in the skate arena, but they are also the only manufacturer that pay special attention to skate graphics. Another well known skate label, Baker, did a small run of decks that were only intended to be ‘out on a wall products’ as well but it all comes down to you as a consumer what goes up on the wall and what gets skated at the end of the day.
It seems that everything is subjected to fashion trends including the skate scene, let’s just hope that the art isn’t.
Buying t-shirts online may seem like a scary thing to do. Every single day we are assaulted by stories of our glorious South African postal service losing our mail…or in extreme cases postal workers actually rifling through our mail and stealing whatever they feel like.
It’s easy to understand why people are apprehensive about buying t-shirts online when stories like this are lurking around.
Unfortunately, we at Springleap.com are not immune to this terrible service, we have had quite a few packages take a million years to arrive…or not arrive at all. Needless to say it upsets our clients and makes us look bad all at the same time. Buying t-shirts online had become a serious trial of patience.
Things have had to evolve…and evolve they have. This evolution in delivery comes in the form of a courier service that is mega reliable and swift. Yes it costs a tad more, however you are paying for peace of mind and I’m sure you wouldn’t mind shelling out a few extra rand for a trustworthy service.
If you’re a guy I know you’re like: “freaking yes!!!”.
I know what you’re thinking, but you can relax though, because Springleap.com ISN’T about to crowdsource the outcome of a wet t-shirt competition! Although it is a good idea! haha!
I know the American’s are big on wet t-shirt competitions, especially on the beaches. Which makes sense, because I’ve noticed that American’s aren’t a shy breed at all!
While some may be only too happy to attend a wet t-shirt competition there will always be a few who object. Then again that’s the case with most nudity issues…
Seems as though wet t-shirt competitions have come a real long way! Here’s a photo of a geisha bathing in her wet tee. Aaaah lovely, or should I say “rovery”!!!
@ The Ladies: What’s your opinion on wet t-shirt competitions? Would you ever take part in one?
@ The Gentlemen: Do you think this kind of competition is degrading? What Springleap.comtee would look best donned by a semi bare breasted female?
