Aerial7 headphones

AERIAL7

Greeting one and all.

I have always been a huge fan of music. One of the biggest stress relievers in my life is sitting back and listening to my favourite tracks on good quality headphones.
You could say that over the years I have become a bit of a headphone connoisseur…well, of the mid to “low high” price range. :D

Recently my poor little Philips headphone plugs experienced a sad and untimely death. So, I dried my eyes and moved on to another pair of headphones. Unfortunately I broke my golden rule of headphone buying strategy, which boils down to one word….RESEARCH.
Its actually rather frightening how HARD these new headphones sucked. Just in case you are looking for a new pair of headphones, do yourself a favour and stay well clear of a product called iFrogz.

I bought myself a pair called iFrogz Earpollution Plugz, which set me back R200. While this may not seem like a hellova lot of money, it is still 200 bucks out of my pocket for a product that I will use every single day.
The iFrogz website says that they have a “crisp sound”, while actually the tinny sound was rather piercing and had zero bass and depth. I had the headphones for less than 2 months and then they ALSO died on me.
Before I sound like a headphone destroying barbarian, you must know that I am extremely careful with my headphones….I don’t have money to burn on a new pair every few months. iFrogs has a step up in the Earpollution range called “The Metal Drumz” series.
Unfortunately I’m not willing to take a chance on this item because of the abysmal performance of these last headphones…beware everybody.

Luckily Look & Listen gave me a credit on the damaged item and I decided to go for a product that I had heard quite a bit about, but had never stumbled across, this company is called Aerial7 and are well known for making extreme “out there” cushion headphones that look like something that was created after licking the backs of poisonous Amazonian frogs.
While I had heard quite a bit about the cushion range called “Tank”, I had heard nothing at all about Aerial7’s Bullet range, which is done in the plug style.
I have to say that I was a bit apprehensive, but the salesman in charge of the electronics area said that they were really good and had a good price too.
I must say I am pretty impressed with the Aerial7 Bullet headphones. They have good clear sound, a nice level of bass and look really cool as well. They had some seriously bright funky ones, but I opted for the “Shade” versions which are a chilled grey and black.
So overall I have to say I give the Aerial7 Bullet headphones a 7 out of 10…which is pretty good, because I’m ultra finicky when it comes to this subject.

Aerial7 has a rather small but varied collection of headphones, which are sure to send the more open minded funkster’s among you clambering for more.
I visited their website and scoped out their 3 major headphone designs (which are all cushioned): Tank (featured pic), Chopper and Matador.
Out of the three designs I’d have to say that I liked the Tank variation the most. They are big and chunky…and seriously look like tank commander headphones that can withstand the sound of artillery fire BOOM.
It seems that Aerial7 is one of the few headphone brands that are really trying to step up the design aspect of their product and make headphones that have a serious “personality” of their own.

The Aerial7 range may be a bit too crazy for some people, but it has become a firm favourite amongst video gamer’s and DJ’s alike.
I am happy to see that headphones are being taken to the next level and can finally express the personality of the wearer…I’m totally sick of the cookie cutter standard “look” of headphones….more imagination please.
So if you are looking for a good pair of funky headphone plugs that don’t cost the Earth, then maybe consider buying yourself a pair of Aerial7 Bullet’s.
So far so good, however if these things start to freak out or die too early…I will be back posting my experience.

Here are the Aerial7 Bullet technical specifications:
Driver Diameter: 10mm
Impedance: 16Ω
Frequency Response: 20Hz~20KHz
Sensitivity: (S.P.L): 92±3dB (at 1KHz)
Input Plug Diameter: 3.5mm

Have a good one.

Duncs.

    hello duncan!

i too am an earphone junky, but not a millionaire either! i am pimpin a pair of the in-ear aerial7’s. and i must say, comin from the noise isolating “billion-dollar” griffins, they are such a delight! they are comfortable, light and give amamzing sound quality!(no distortion) i am a person of rather dark heavy music, so my bass quality means alot to me!

i currently own a pair of skull candy’s as well! which do pump, but hell, they def’ a second to my bullets!

    keep up the good word!

    Yo Campbell.

For sure the Bullets really seem to be impressing me more and more.
I find that as I try different genres of music, they seem to work nicely with each unique sound. Heck I was even playing some Tchaikovsky the other night and it sounded epic. Classical music is perhaps one of the most difficult sounds to enjoy without the proper equipment.

    Rock on earphone junky :D
