Greeting all you music lovers out there.
So in 8 days time the Cape Town International Jazz festival will be back and better than ever.
Over the past 9 years the festival has grown in leaps and bounds attracting a crowd over more than 32 000 people….now that is a staggering amount of people.
I guess that is why they call the Cape Town Jazz Festival the most prestigious event on African soil
Africa’s grandest gathering, which is another name for the festival, will be kicking off on Friday 03 and Saturday 04 April 2009.
The festival will be held inside the International Convention Centre and will comprise of 5 separate stages and will have more than 40 artists from all over the world as well as the best of the best of the local South African jazz scene.
WoW, that is quite a spread of music.
As usual the Cape Town International Jazz Festival aims at bringing you not only the best music from well established artist, but also introduces jazz fans to up and coming musicians with their own unique sounds and talents.
The blend of young and old…new age and traditional jazz sounds means a complete emersion in a greatly varied music experience.
There are no excuses for younger people to not find something that moves them at the festival as groups like Goldfish and Rus Nerwich will be on hand to dish out crazy electro beats and fusion hip hop jazz beats.
Heck even Freshly Ground will be pulling in and they always kick much bum.
As far as well established artists go, there will be old favourites like Hugh Masekela and Ringo Madlingosi.
International acts will be just as varied with stalwart Maceo Parker and Dianna Reeves adding extra oomf, while well known rapper Mos Def, will appeal to the younger music fans.
Honestly there are just too many artists to mention, if you would like a full list of the performers please shoot across to the Cape Town International Jazz Festival home page….CLICK HERE.
