Hi there all my fellow South Africans.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Madiba
Yeah today is very special day for the best president this country has ever seen. There hasn’t been many leaders that command as much respect as this great man and I’m not just talking about South Africa, the whole world should take a page out of the book of Nelson Mandela…he fought through heavy times during Apartheid, was imprisoned for years and still wanted an equal peace for all when he was released.
We all know things could have gone terribly wrong when he took power, all he had to do was point and say a single word….but he didn’t, he realised that the country was torn apart by racial evil and a deep seated malice, Madiba was the better man and pushed for a Rainbow nation where we all live side by side in peace.

I wish he was still young and full of zest, he could stay president for as long as he wanted in my opinion…let’s face it Thabo hadn’t exactly lived up to the legend of Madiba…although they were extremely big shoes to fill, but that’s still no excuse and now our next pres might be a guy who has been in and out of court more than OJ Simpson…not exactly the type of image we should be sending to our youth.
Madiba come back and be president once more, we miss your generosity and warmth L

This year Madiba turns a very golden 90 years old, quite an accomplishment for any human being, but more so for somebody that has lived the life he has.
For weeks now there has been advert after advert wishing Madiba a happy birthday…from TV ads to magazine spots…heck every time I go to the ATM I see messages wishing him LOL.
Gotta say I don’t think Madiba goes to the ATM very often, he has willing subjects that sort that kinda stuff out for him…although you have to love that the banks jump on the band wagon and send their wishes…it’s like everybody who’s “huge“ has to say happy birthday or they will get a letter in the post asking why they didn’t haha.
You have to love how people suddenly all wanna do cartwheels with advertisements when an event like this takes place…it all feels very false to me.
No doubt the majority of birthday wished for Madiba are truly heart felt, but when the corporate machine sends out their clinical messages I just have to roll my eyes.

So what’s the big guy getting up to?
Well word is he will be in the village of Qunu close to Mthatha (Eastern Cape), which is where Madiba grew up.
The event will be a very exclusive affair which will comprise of just close family, the party has been organised by Madibas family and not by the various Mandela organisations.
Although that hasn’t stopped South Africa going Madiba-Party-Crazy and everybody seems to want to get in on the fun.
If you caught the breakfast show this morning you would have seen the massive tributes and celebrations being held for our dear Madiba.

Anyways let’s hope he has a wonderful jol and that he is around to share his words of wisdom for many years to come. Enjoy the cake and celebrations Madiba.
