Alien invasions: people running&screaming, giant alien lazer cannons, haplessheroeswho can take out interstellarstarshipswith supposedly superior human intellect and of course a Death Star size level of luck. “You’ve seen one invasion, you’ve seen em all”, is pretty much the opinion of most. However this year we have an exciting new sci-fi/horror/action movie coming out calledCloverfield.
Cloverfieldis one of those invasion movies (well maybe invasion) where thealienscome down and basically start kicking the hell out of us with superior weaponryand of course a big grin…well that’s if they can grin. I haven’t actually seen one of theenemiesyet, they seem to have done agreat job of keeping it all under wraps too, Youtubeis filled withhilarioushoax video compilations mixed with anything fromIndependence DaytoSouth Park.
Cloverfieldis somewhat different from your average run of the millsci-fi, in that its feel almost like Blair Witch. The movie is shot with what looks like your average home usevideo cameraand gives that gritty realismthat Blair Witch was famous for…of course if I was being hunted down by aflesh eating alien badassI wouldn’t stop to take hisbloody picture.
I’ve seen a few shorts for the movie which all look like great funand will be laden with high actionandscaresdeluxe…of course the trailer might be all fluff and the actual movie adisasterof a different kind, you can never tell these days. Well I’m not exactly sure when it’s set to hit our SA big screen, but hey it should be pretty soon. Let’s all hold thumbs that it’s not ashocker.

I pondered the significance of of wise Yoda’s (from Star Wars) words : “There is not try, only do.“- in light of my last Chicken Joe blog - with a fresh outlook.
What does this really mean for us? Is the statement as obvious as it is, or is there a deeper meaning to consider?
Well the cool thing about the statement is that you can take it at face value or dig it like this :
There is no try – only do… and doing is easier than trying.
That is the cool thing.
So many people think they have “try” to be better/ good to people or themselves. In our society “try” is connected to effort and that is what makes it so difficult – people automatically think that it now requires big effort and if it is so much effort then it’s too much trouble.
The MAIN THING is to UNDERSTAND AND BE AWARE that “doing” is EASIER than “trying”.
It’s TRUE - REALLY!!! When you do, all you need is to do - you don’t have to try anything. The concept of constantly having to try in itself is flawed because all you will ever do is keep on trying and never get to the doing or the done.
So whatever it is - don’t think you need to try - just do it, and get it DONE;)
As you may have noticed I’ve been away for a WHOLE week. I was lucky enough to get away to sunny Durbanto seefamilyandfriendsand have an overall wicked time….which indeed I did J I jammed in as manyhardcore mosh evenings as I could atBurnand caused as much general havocas was humanly possible…aahh I do miss causingtrouble LOL.
However my ears may neverrecoverfrom the “too close to the speaker” bombardment…never pass out next to a speaker….not that I did…but if you do…JUST DONT DO IT. A row of speakers powerful enough to strip the flesh from your bones, that’s how I felt after the sonic maelstrom…a wall of sound indeed. Speaking of a wall of sound, check out thisfreaking insane design from the ever popularlocal design teamFiftees: Sound.
This design appeals to basically all sorts of humans, whether you are a lazer dodging raver, a head butting metal mosheror a too-cool-to-dance jockat a meat market…everybody can appreciate the good ol’ fashioned speaker set up. It’s one of the only things that we as humans share on an equal level…we all dig good tunes, no matter what our background, age, raceorbelief.
I’m a big fanof the green they used for the shirt itself and the speakers being black and yellow really make thedesignthat much moreappealing. I would have liked to see an added print or detail on the back of the shirt but that’s just aminorglitchfrom a reallyfantastic design. Once againFifteesdeliver aunique show stopping design.
