Growing up with my dads music has definitely helped me in life…Cat Stevens, the beach boys and the Beatles all played a very valid roll in my everyday living. Not only do I have the raddest music taste (compared to the kids who were deprived of the good stuff), but I get to watch movies like Across the Universe, and know every word to all the songs
A good mate of mine informed me yesterday that there was a movie out that incorporated all the Beatles music into an insane love story. The natural reaction to this statement was to perform the traditional hop skip and jump, and then make last minute plans to go and see this amazing movie which is exactly what we did.
So the team and I Jumped into my temperamental Toyota conquest and made our way to Gateway shopping mall, where we picked up a traditional Mackie Dee (MacDonald’s) burger, popcorn and a frozen lemonade (which was so insanely sour it gave me temporary lock jaw). And ventured into the movie cinema…
The beginning of our movie wasn’t as fantastic as we hoped it could’ve been. The sound was non-existent so we complained and got them to start it over again. The second time round was more of a success than the first. The movie starts off with (a very good-looking) Jim Sturgess staring back at you singing the familiar Beatles song “Girl“. The story itself is set in mid 1960s. It follows a young English guy in search of his American G.I. father.
The reason I enjoyed this movie so much is because of the insane cinematography and use of the Beatles songs. Describing this movie in words really wont do it any justice…It really is the best movie I have seen in a very long time, and I beg all you Beatles fans to go and check it out if you haven’t already.

Sounds like u had one heckava jol at Gateway, i love and hate that place sooo much. Lemonade sounded bloody evil…when im there its usually kfc and Gloria jean iced coffee.
Movie sounds interesting, were there and xenos feasting on hapless victims? explosions rippling forth from demigod status super villains?
what a fantastic movie “Across the Universe” is…
Saw it last night and didn’t think much the first 10 minutes.
But as “Across the Universe” continued, it got better & better
there were some BRILLIANT scenes…
the dancing choreography when he is at his army medical is worth seeing the movie for alone
If you like Beatles music, then you’ll want to buy “Across the Universe” on DVD
Wow - It was so rad!
When I started watching I thought : er.. the cheeze is dribbling on my shirt here - it may never wash out……
BUT
Then we saw Bono, Timothy Leary, and LOADS of PSYCHADELIA!!!!
It was such a groove and a blast - I really love the classic Beatles Movie : “The Yellow Submarine” (best watched in Italian guys - the Brit accents are TERRIBLE!).
ANYONE who is a fan of Beatlesmania, Beatles, psychedelia and just plain good ol fashioned feel good fun should make this a must watch.
Y’know - the message is super simple - all you need is love baby…. all you need is love love love :):):):)
